Red Gram:
Red gram that we know by the name tur daal or arhar is widely grown in India as India is the largest producer and consumer of red gram in the world. It is a protein rich staple food which contains about 22% of protein. The content of protein in red gram is almost three times more than that of other cereals. The grain is mainly consumed in the form of daal. An average Indian diet consists of daal chawal, sabzi, and roti. Red gram is rich in lysine, riboflavin, thiamine, niacin and iron. It has a high amount of dietary fiber which helps regulate bowel movement, improve digestive disorders and prevent constipation.
Red grams are an excellent source of carbohydrates which are essential for the body due to their increased nutritional value. Consumption of red gram relieves acidity, stomach pain, and problems related to the digestive system.
Wheat:
It is a grain that is available throughout the year across all parts of the world. It is an essential staple food in most Indian households. Wheat is mostly consumed in the form of chapatis. Although noodles, pasta, pizza base, bread, biscuits, cakes, and muffins are made with all-purpose flour, these days manufacturers have come up with healthy alternatives made with wheat flour. Constituting wheat in your daily diet also helps regulate blood glucose levels in diabetic patients. When choosing food items made out of wheat, make sure to opt for those made with whole wheat than the refined variety. The level of nutrition in wheat grains decreases after it gets processed or refined.
